What
sets the Sporades apart from the rest of Greece is not simply their
natural beauty but rather their tranquility. Their tree-covered
mountains, azure sea, golden sands, all together in total harmony, form
the image of serenity that characterizes this part of Greece. From the
time when Artemis hunted in her wooded hills and the people fished for
the little mollusk that produced the purple dye for royal robes, up to
our own day, Sporades have offered her constantly changing landscape to
the traveller. Tiny villages, medieval castles, hot springs, rippling
brooks, all exist at their own rhythm, in their own dimension. |
